Road To Ayder - Paper Print
This painting is part of my travel-inspired series, capturing the timeless charm of Ayder (a hidden gem in Türkiye’s Black Sea region). Ayder is renowned for its lush green landscapes, mist covered valleys, and historic stone bridges that connect past and present. Originally settled by the Laz and Hemşin people, the region has a rich cultural heritage, where traditional wooden houses, highland pastures and flowing rivers shape its identity.
In this artwork, I wanted to emphasize the bridge as a symbol of connection between nature and people, history and modernity. Using a palette knife and thick impasto strokes, I brought out the rugged texture of the ancient stones and the movement of the rushing water beneath.
The greenery is painted with layered strokes, evoking the dense vegetation that blankets the region. The interplay of light and shadow creates depth, drawing the eye toward the bridge’s graceful arch and the cascading river below.
The energy of the water contrasts with the solid, enduring structure of the bridge, reflecting Ayder’s balance between change and permanence. Through this piece, I aim to transport viewers to this tranquil yet powerful landscape, where nature’s beauty and human craftsmanship exist in harmony.
MATTE PAPER 310gsm
Our fine art matte paper is 100% cotton with a smooth texture, reminiscent of the original genuine etching and printmaking papers. The paper has the purest white tone available on the market, without any Optical Brightening Agents, also called OBAs. Optical Brightening Agents are artificial brighteners that deteriorate in time.
It offers a high paper shade stability and a resistance to aging by using natural minerals. This museum-grade paper provides deep blacks, excellent image sharpness, optimum colour graduation and its unique slight grain makes it ideal for printing detailed work, colour photographs and exceptional black and white portraits.
