The Eternal Tale-Paper Print
During a holiday getaway, I became entranced by an unforgettable photograph captured by Mithun H in the Kabini Forest Reserve, India which is a rare moment showing the black panther Saaya standing beside the leopard Cleopatra. Their enduring bond, forged in the wild, radiated a mysterious strength and harmony that instantly captivated me.
The black panther is the melanistic colour variant of the leopard and the jaguar. Black panthers of both species have excess black pigments, but their typical rosettes are also present.
This extraordinary pair, moving as though they were sharing one soul across two bodies, inspired the heart of my holiday artwork The Eternal Tale.
For me, their story echoes a deeper truth, that of two souls even shaped by different journeys can find healing and balance in one another. Their connection felt symbolic of acceptance and devotion. The quiet power of love that survives beyond circumstance.
Compelled by this emotion, I brought their presence to life using coloured pencils and oil pastels, blending softness with intensity to capture their energy. This artwork holds a special meaning for me also being a tribute to healing and an eternal love shared in the wild.
